Ramble ramble ramble - I truly appreciate the time you took to discuss social media in a way that isn’t just saying “get off of it” in vague terms. I encounter that often on Substack.
I took moments to breathe, look out of the window and reflect while reading. Thank you for the space.
One of the practices I maintain that challenges my social addiction is a phone less walk in my safe spaces. It’s redundant, repetitive, and challenges my never satisfied hunger for novelty from my phone. I too try to be devoted to my pedestrianism.
Thank you for reading! I love that this piece provided some space for you to breathe and reflect.
I love your dedication to pedestrianism. I usually walk and write poems on the path near my house by a river, but I have never left my phone behind. I am going to try that this week. I'll let you know how it goes!
I have been meaning to comment for ages how much I love this series and how relevant it’s been to my journey with social/digital media but my attention would always be fractured or pulled away for one reason or another. Thank you for this writing!
I didn’t say “duh, Rose” but instead “I really needed to hear that.” Thank you for reminding me what it looks like to practice intentionality in my time away from social media and really posing the question “what did you do to get there?” This came perfect timing because I planned to take today to spend away from my phone and now, I have homework to do so, thank you ❤️ I also second that shout out to Julene! It’s so beautiful to see how your relationship had developed and blossomed into what it is now.

Hey Ruby!
I am so glad you loved the series. I am glad you have found it helpful for reminding you that your attention is sacred.
Though I am done writing it, I plan to integrate more insights in other posts. The work is not done.
