celebrating 3 years of writing on substack
....with gift subscriptions for those seeking a gentle landing!
Hello gentle-people,
I published the first post of A Gentle Landing on February 12, 2022. It has been three years of writing on Substack. Three years of slow, contemplative work, wrestling with big questions and building a space where depth, nuance, and tenderness are honored.
As I reflect on this milestone, I’m also holding onto something that has shaped my journey—I have been writing reflections for vocational discernment that I wish I had. Because of this, it has been so important to me to share the resources I’ve collected with others.
So I would like to make an offer.
what is A Gentle Landing? - about this space
I am learning to describe what it is I offer through this newsletter. I have collected affirmations—my own and others—to describe the space my writing has created:
A Gentle Landing is a generous invitation to the tender. Writing at the pace of flourishing, each piece invites connection and care.
A Gentle Landing is a space that trusts the readers’ search for wisdom and honors their need for slowness. Here, we resist the speed of digital consumption and instead invite deep reflection.
A Gentle Landing is complex, layered, and deeply researched. This space is shaped by poetic reflections, theological insights, and a deep commitment to exploring ongoing shifts. This is a space where scholarship and warmth go together.

who this offer is for
I write A Gentle Landing to those I call gentle-people, which could be anyone who identifies as seeking softness in a harsh world. I imagined this offering for four kinds of gentle-people in particular, according to identities that have shaped me vocationally:
Those who work in vocational discernment—whether in a church, seminary, or another space where people are listening for their callings.
Seminary students—for budding theologians who are in vocational discernment, trying to figure out what shape they want their scholarship and life to take.
Black folks—overflowing with Black aliveness, this invitation is for those seeking out restful ways to affirm that aliveness in the world.
Poets—this newsletter’s tagline is “a poetic playground for restless dreamers.” I invite more poets to come play in this space with me—especially if poetry shapes your spirituality.
If this sounds like you, I would like to gift you a complimentary six months of access to the full archive of A Gentle Landing so you can see for yourself if this work resonates with you. There are no trick questions, and there is no need to tell your whole life’s story, though honesty and intentionality are appreciated.
