Haitian Kreyole was my first language too. My mother says the teacher complained that the kids would not play with me because they could not understand. And here, I am now. I am going to make an attempt to write more about my experiences being Haitian. You continue to encourage me to do so. I appreciate you, family.
Marc! You were on my mind today and coming back to this post to see this comment blessed me. I look forward to your writings on being Haitian. I hope you are doing well. I miss you!
I have been having similar struggles and conversations with myself over my unread books. Thanks for reminding me about grace and about one page at a time.
"I may have to unload the books that I bought when I developed a niche interest in a subject I am no longer interested in." This is exactly what I did recently. Some local little free libraries got a lot of Christian theology books recently :)
You had me at finding out why Jose' and Rose don't rhyme ... I was born in this country, but I didn't speak till I was 3 1/2. I was in kindergarten a year too early, with learning disabilities, undiagnosed, untreated, unrecognized until I was nearly 40 years old. I still have problems with CH and SH, I have dyslexia, dysgraphia, like many writers. We share more in common, you and I, then one would guess. I loved your words, your passion, you're beautiful flowing prose. It has taken me a lifetime to get here, and though I regret I do not have much time left, for I am 70 years old, I do not lament ... much. ❤️

a line I'm sitting with: "Maybe together, we could take the world one page at a time"
definitely too hard on yourself dear one.

Powerful story family 🫶🏽
Thank you for reading, Jamal!
