Starshine & Clay Cohort
"Who did I see to be except myself? I made it up." —Lucille Clifton
God opened up the mind
of the universe
with a phrase:
“Let there be light”
and light came forth, as if
it was waiting for eternity to hear
someone call its name.
I want to be like God
calling things forth
saying the names that bring
beauty out from behind their eternal veils
I made a thing and called it mine
but it was meant to be shared
I was a thought once
and here I am.
What a world, to be in
and still
find becoming.
Thank you for reading! I am slowly making my way back to doing the things I love: podcasting, writing, and creating sacred spaces.
Next month, I am piloting a new cohort called the “Starshine & Clay” Cohort for Black Spiritual Deconstruction. The application is here! You can sign up from now until the end of June. The cohort will take place on Wednesday evenings at 7pm EST.
This cohort is
for you if....
...you are a Black person who has experienced racial trauma & fatigue in predominantly White faith spaces.
...you find yourself wondering what a
Black-centered deconstruction journey
looks like.
...you are looking for ways to explore Christian faith & spirituality that are unapologetically Black.
...you are craving community with other Black folks who are deconstructing from their faith AND
—let's be honest—
probably also from deconstruction spaces & conversations that still center whiteness!
..you love poetry!
Or you are at least curious what Lucille Clifton's poetry has to do with the things listed above.
Sound like you?
For folks who are wishing to support those who want to be part of this cohort, you can click here to donate to scholarships, by selecting “Starshine & Clay” in the drop-down menu.
