Your writing is always so mellow and welcoming I always want to put my feet up when reading your work.
Also, your space is beautiful! All of the affirmations and notes and art and gifts from loved ones, it must be so nice to witness forms of love and care everywhere you look.
Thank you for all your offerings as well. Getting into the Audre Lorde one right away.
I appreciate your voice in this community. Congratulations on the new job! I pray it will not only bring some financial relief but will also give you new opportunities to learn and grow as a person. Creating a space that meets all the needs of work and rest is a challenge, for sure. Now that my husband and I have sold everything to become nomads, moving into a tiny home on wheels (a little over a hundred square feet), we are experiencing this challenge ourselves to a new extreme. Finding ways to make such a small space functional and not cluttered, but still a reflection of who we are--individually and as a couple--for both a home and a creative workspace is an ongoing experiment. I wish you all the best.
Gosh, these quotes, reminders and your calligraphy are just absolutely stunning. I have a collage I made this summer sitting on my desk affirming what I'd like to be reflected in my work. I so needed this read today. I was just thinking to myself this morning - how can I invite more ease to this submission season? As a freelance creative I find I go through times where I'm physically making work, and others where I'm writing about it through exhibition / workshop / fellowship submissions. Now, I do love this process because it allows be space to look at my work in new ways and it always results in new ideas and ways of seeing. However, after a couple months of straight submissions I'm really feeling it. Something I've been navigating is how to invite more balance. I appreciate this beautiful reminder. It's become very apparent that it's more energetically fruitful for me to submit and create at the same time. Congratulations on your new position - I'm so glad it's made for a more restful space for creation.
First of allπππβthank you for this thoughtful response and the well wishes! Submissions are a struggle for me. Especially when I hear nothing back, not even a word to guide me and help me improve. Lemme know when you have an answer to that "ease to this submission season" question. I am inspired by you putting your work out there.
Love love love. Can't say I am not inspired by your own curation of sacred space and surrounding yourself with beauty, friend. Alsoβthank you for helping me remember/remembering me.
I instantly love that photo of Maya. Before I even embark on the reading.
Isnβt she fire in this photo?! Thereβs a whole series of them btw
Opportunities abound for me. I do not have to compromise my values to find good work. ππΎππΎππΎβπΎβπΎβπΎ

Thank you Rachel! And thanks for the feather. I am looking forward to adding your name in my 'collection of cares'!
Itβs my pleasure to join the collection π

Thank you Sherry!! I have semi-nomadic aspirations and am inspired by this move for you and your husband!
After raising a family in a large house in the country, feeling rooted to a place for fifty years, this is a huge step for us. π¬
