finding work that supports a gentle landing
Please share widely. I need your help now more than ever.
Hello gentle-people,
I currently work a part time job that has been wonderful for supporting a gentle landing—but it ends at the end of May. I am guaranteed a spot back in September in the same role, but I would need to find some other work for the summer (June-August), at least. I say “at least,” because I am open to work that might replace this job.
Many of my friends and colleagues I am connected with online have been such a tremendous help with sending me leads and information to guide my job search. I am writing this post in part because I want there to be a place that isn’t social media where people can share work opportunities they are finding.
But I also write because I need as much help as I can get these days. As someone who lives with a disability that is triggered by stress, I have to do what I can to mitigate its impact.
To help things along a bit, I made the decision to relaunch my website, agentlelanding.net. My hope is that folks reading this newsletter can send it out to people who might be interested in working with me. You can also send people to this post, since I will spend it reflecting on the kind of work I am looking for that supports a gentle landing.
In this post, I am letting myself dream a bit. That is what a gentle landing is about—when it is lived well, it gives us the capacity to dream.
Help me find work that supports a gentle landing…
Let me start by telling you a bit about myself:
My name is rose june. I am a writer, spiritual formation educator, and community builder whose work lives at the intersection of Black contemplative life, womanist theology, and liberative practices of rest, healing and play.
Through A Gentle Landing, I curate reflective essays, poetic meditations, and community offerings that invite 1,822 readers into gentler ways of living beyond hustle and survival. I have a background in pastoral leadership, higher education, curriculum design, and digital community formation. I have spent years supporting individuals and communities in questions of identity, belonging, healing, and vocation.
My work is shaped by Black feminist poetics, trauma-informed spiritual care, and a deep commitment to creating spaces where slowness, discernment, and aliveness can flourish.
In this season, I am looking for work that supports a gentle landing—directly or indirectly. Let me explain what that looks like:
I am seeking work that makes a gentle landing possible. For me that is a life shaped by the rhythms of rest, healing and play. I am seeking work that honors depth, care, and sustainability over urgency and relentless output.
I am drawn to roles shaped by thoughtful collaboration. It does not have to be explicitly spiritual but I would love if the intentionally of creative-spiritual reflection is welcomed.
I love community building and would love to be involved in work that invites people to bring their full selves.
The work I am looking for supports healing, reflection, and meaningful transformation, whether through writing, teaching, curriculum design, pastoral care, or creative leadership. I also have experience in administrative and program coordinator roles.
I am especially interested in environments that value cyclical rhythms, shared leadership, and humane expectations. I would love it if there was room for rest, imagination, and long-term flourishing rather than burnout.
I am seeking work that aligns vocation with well-being and creates conditions for both personal and collective aliveness.
Help me find work that sustains A Gentle Landing…
When I say “a gentle landing,” all lowercase, I am talking about how I want to live. when I write it capitalizing A, G and L, I am referring to the work I am doing through this newsletter and beyond.
I am seeking work that not only offers personal stability, but also materially supports the long-term vision of A Gentle Landing and the ongoing work I am called to do in the world.
This means pursuing roles, partnerships, and projects that strengthen my capacity to write, teach, gather, and create spaces of reflection for Black women and others seeking lives shaped by rest, discernment, and aliveness.
I am especially drawn to work that is aligned with my commitments to spiritual formation, womanist thought, and community care. I am drawn to work that deepens rather than fragments my creative and intellectual life.
The right work will not compete with A Gentle Landing, but nourish it by providing financial sustainability, spacious rhythms, and opportunities for learning that can be woven back into the essays, retreats, courses, and communal practices I am building.
I want my labor in the world to be coherent, so that what supports my livelihood also supports the platform, scholarship, and ministry I am growing for the long haul.
Will you help me?
If your answer is yes, here are some things you can do:
Share it specifically with people who share my vision in some way. It might also help to write a little bit in your message to them about how my work has impacted you.
Leave job leads in the comments, recommend websites or places to look.
Leave me a little encouragement in the comments. I could often use a reminder that my dreams are not too wild.
Work with me! If this post has inspired a potential project, reach out through my website agentlelanding.net.
Finally, become a paid subscriber to A Gentle Landing. What you sow into this work goes towards supporting my rest, healing and play and towards building out AGL beyond the newsletter.

Keeping an eye out for any roles I see. Also sending you encouragement and gratitude for this sweet space you’ve created. It’s tender and grounding and dream-inducing. I’m very glad you’re here.
I feel like you would be a good college chaplain/spiritual life lead.
